Job Description:

The iFlex RN is part of Intermountain’s internal travel agency for assignments. This is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients. This RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members. Our iFlex RNs are expected to float if not needed at assigned facility.

About the iFlex RN Role:

As an iFlex RN, you will be part of Intermountain’s internal travel agency, responsible for various assignments across our network. This role requires flexibility and a commitment to providing high-quality care in different locations. The iFlex RN is accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care using the nursing process, including technology, therapeutic interventions, evidence-based practices, and coordination with the healthcare team. You may be required to float to different units within the PICU service line if not needed at the assigned facility.

Common Diagnoses Treated:

  • Multiple Trauma

  • Complex surgeries

  • Pre and post-solid organ transplants

  • Metabolic disorders

  • Multi-organ system failure

  • Sepsis

  • Extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (Va and VV ECMO)

  • Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality, autonomous care to critically ill pediatric patients.

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including Physicians, LIPs, Respiratory Therapists, and critical care techs.

  • Manage complex patient cases with the highest acuity levels, ensuring optimal care and safety.

  • Engage in ongoing education and professional development to stay at the forefront of pediatric critical care.

  • Float to different units within the PICU service line as needed.

Staffing Ratio:

  • We maintain a 1:1.2 nurse-to-patient ratio, ensuring personalized and attentive care for each patient.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Pay rate $82/hr

  • Competitive pay in line with local and national travel RN rates

  • Pay rates are reviewed quarterly and adjusted based on market trends; each assignment will have a consistent pay rate

  • For assignments more than 50 miles from the employee's home, a weekly living stipend will be provided

  • Employees are responsible for securing their housing during each travel assignment

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2 years of Inpatient Pediatric ICU Experience

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

  • and -

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

  • and -

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

  • and -

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

  • and -

Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.).

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period.
