The Project Manager for Facilities directs lab facility services and the enhancement of physical plant assets while interacting with vendors, contractors, and other personnel in a professional manner and in a regulated environment. This includes capital construction, facility expansion and maintenance, as well as equipment installation and maintenance. This role is responsible for detailed scope development; project design inputs and reviews, scheduling, and budget management; timely and effective communication to project stakeholders and management.

Education and experience:

Required:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering, Operations Management or Construction
    • OR 7 years Project Management work in (related to Construction, Facilities or Equipment)
  • Extensive trade or construction experience (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, GC, etc.).
    • Personal knowledge of trade terminology and know-how, including for construction, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and lab equipment to effectively communicate with contractors.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) / Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
    • OR the ability to complete PMP certification within one year of employment in the role.

Essential Duties:

  • Prepare capital expense approval requests, and project plans for management review and approval.
  • Build project plans including coordination with stakeholders, utilizing Gannt charts for timeline management.
  • Execute on project plans for property, facility and equipment activities:
    • Drive project schedules, budgets, selection and supervision of vendors or contractors, and coordination across internal resources and stakeholders.
    • Manage to project scope, budget and timelines to meet business objectives; track and report on progress and proactively communicate or mitigate project issues and risks.
  • Oversight of vendors - manage project and all participants from end to end
    • Direct the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules; utilize consultants as needed.

Physical requirements:

  • Mobility during 80% of the day and at times remain in a stationary sitting/standing position at a
  • desk while using a computer, keyboard, computer mouse and phone 20% of the day.
  • Occasionally move or lift items greater than 75lbs.
  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE as task requires.
  • Climb up onto and down from equipment.
  • Climb up and down ladder.
  • Ability to manipulate a variety of tools including small hand tools.
