About the opportunity

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a Project Controls Analyst to support our Great Basin sub-region operations in Utah and Idaho. This newly created position offers flexibility, with the option for a hybrid or fully remote work environment based out of one of our West Region offices. The selected candidate will be located within the Pacific or Mountain time zone.

This is a full-time, hourly position typically requiring 40 hours per week, with occasional overtime based on project deadlines. What you will accomplish

  • Utilize Power BI dashboards, Deltek Vision, and other reporting tools to track key performance indicators (KPIs) for projects, providing regular updates to project stakeholders.
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks in collaboration with project managers, ensuring that potential issues are addressed proactively.
  • Support development of project budgets and work breakdown structures.
  • Assist with project setup within SWCA's project accounting system, ensuring all necessary details are accurately entered.
  • Assist in the development, processing, and documentation of change orders to ensure project adjustments are accurately tracked.
  • Coordinate subconsultant contracting and management, ensuring compliance with project requirements and timelines.
  • Prepare and present monthly client accrual estimates, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Assist with project contract review to understand and ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Continuously assess and improve project controls processes, recommending and implementing changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide training and support to project managers and other team members on project controls processes, tools, and best practices. Experience and qualifications for success

Key Skills * Proficient with project financial tracking and reporting methods, including earned value and estimates at completion. * Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences. * Team-oriented with excellent customer service skills; detail-oriented, self-motivated, flexible, and results-driven. * Excellent problem-solving abilities, with strong interpersonal skills to effectively address practical challenges. * Capable of working both independently and collaboratively with project managers, staff, subcontractors, and client representatives. * Highly organized and adept at multitasking, consistently meeting multiple deadlines. Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or an environmentally related field (e.g., biology, geology, anthropology, archaeology, environmental science) with equivalent business acumen. * A minimum of five (5)  years of experience with an environmental and/or A/E/C firm, with relevant project controls or project coordination experience involving project management and financial tracking/reporting. * Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel), Adobe Acrobat. Preferred Qualifications * Proficiency in project management software such as Microsoft Project or Smartsheet. * Demonstrated proficiency in Deltek Vision or similar project accounting software. * Familiarity with federal and/or state environmental protection laws. * Experience creating custom dashboards and reports using Power BI or similar tools.
