Job Summary

The Huang Research Group, part of the Departments of Materials Science and Engineering and the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Utah, is seeking a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral researcher. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to join the research team focused on the cutting-edge fields of 3D/4D printing and the development of multi-functional soft materials for various advanced applications.

Responsibilities

  1. Conduct innovative research in the areas of 3D/4D printing of multi-functional soft materials.

  2. Develop new materials and processes for applications in soft robotics, optical neuron networks, and biomedical devices.

  3. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to plan and execute research projects.

  4. Communicate scientific results effectively through oral presentations and high-impact publications.

  5. Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming laboratory environment.

  6. Mentor graduate and undergraduate students involved in related research projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferences

Must have obtained a PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related areas.

Strong background in polymer chemistry and material formulation.

Experience with polymer characterization techniques (e.g., FTIR , NMR , TGA , DSC , DMA ).

Proven track record of quality peer-reviewed publications.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a diverse team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in light-based vat photopolymerization.

Knowledge of siloxane chemistry.

Skills in optical design, finite element analysis, and electronics.
