Job Summary

The University Campus Store is seeking a Marketing Project Manager to lead our marketing strategy. The ideal candidate will plan, execute, and deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. They will work with a multifaceted team to maximize sales while optimizing the customer experience in-store and online. In addition, they will manage a large team that consists of creatives, website optimization experts, and associates who facilitate multiple partner relationships throughout Campus.

Under the direction of the Campus Store Director, this position is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all aspects of the Campus Store’s marketing. This includes coordinating all design, overseeing marketing assets, and managing the marketing budget for the Campus Store. This position also manages digital communications and content, including social media postings, presentations, signage, the E-Commerce website, and any print collateral aligning with the Store’s marketing, event, and service initiatives. This position will work closely with Store leadership and the merchandise buying team to implement cohesive branding, signage, and visual assets throughout all sales departments and online. Our Marketing Project Manager oversees a creative team consisting of full-time, part-time, and student employees. Along with these duties, a major part of this position’s outreach responsibility is maintaining and growing the Campus Store’s partnership with a wide array of University departments. Our Marketing Project Manager will ensure all touchpoints across the customer’s journey, both physical and digital, are positive and efficient through innovative content and engaging outreach.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage marketing projects, including campaign launches, product promotions, and event planning for the Campus Store.

  • Developed marketing and promotional calendars for upcoming events and clearly communicate deadlines and project plans to the organization.

  • Work closely with the buying team and sales managers to develop and implement sales and marketing campaigns to grow revenue for all Campus Store business channels.

  • Ensure all projects are delivered on-time, within scope, and within budget.

  • Oversee the creation of targeted campaigns using various marketing platforms including targeted and segmented email, social media, radio, direct mail, billboards, and print ads.

  • Oversee the development of written, digital, photographic, and video content.

  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.

  • Report and escalate issues to management as needed.

  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with third-parties/vendors.

  • Determine effectiveness of all marketing campaigns and activities ensuring proper development, tracking, and evaluation. Perform detailed quantitative analysis on marketing campaigns to judge effectiveness.

  • Manage a diverse creative team, focusing on design (including photography), social media engagement, SEO , promotional planning and partner relationships.

  • Maintain and organize the digital library of marketing files for ease of access by the marketing team and Store management.

  • Work in tandem with Auxiliary Services Marketing to strengthen communication to Campus partners, customers, and clients, while promoting the Campus Store’s products, services, and purpose on Campus.

  • Develop a deep understanding of the customer and work with the Campus Store leaders and buying team to deliver a seamless shopping experience both online and in-store.

  • Work with the E-Commerce Manager to develop, manage, and maximize our Pay-Per-Click, SEO , and affiliate marketing relationships.

  • Develop mutually beneficial partnerships and programs with key campus partners (Utah Athletics, Alumni Association, faculty, and student leadership).

  • Work in tandem with Store leadership to develop and oversee a CRM growth strategy to expand our penetration to certain markets.

  • Oversee in-store signage, digital feeds, light boxes, and graphics to ensure uniformity and consistent branding throughout all locations.

  • Plan and execute large and engaging in-store events to drive traffic into the retail locations, generate sales, and promote the Store as an engaging and exciting venue on Campus.

  • Promote brand awareness and grow sales with high profile vendors like, Apple, Starbucks, and Under Armour while adhering to strict marketing guidelines.

  • Create and report clear analytics to Senior Management for business planning purposes.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.
