About the role

We are seeking aManager, Commercial Operationsfor partnering across Nuton and broader Rio Tinto on commercial initiatives that drive Nuton's business strategy and objectives and for overseeing day-to-day commercial operations and activities.

This role will support commercial activity across all stages of Nuton's strategic partnerships in collaboration with others, including identification of potential partners, assessment of investment and deal opportunities, development of commercial structures and revenue optimization and managing commercial agreements.

Nuton, Rio Tinto's latest entrepreneurial venture, is a suite of innovative, bio-heap leaching technologies that harness natural processes to unlock new sources of critical metals. Reporting to the Nuton VP Commercial, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting project portfolio development and maintenance

  • Monitoring developments and trends in the copper industry, including new technologies and competitors

  • Forming and maintaining partner, internal stakeholder and industry relationships and monitoring partner success metrics

  • Collaborating with technical teams to optimize project execution and timelines to ensure commercial success

  • Interfacing with subject matter experts across Nuton, Rio Tinto and externally to evaluate potential partners and investment opportunities, along with maintaining the current investment and project portfolios

  • Collaborating across the Nuton to ensure consistency and alignment with business priorities while remaining flexible as priorities evolve

  • Supporting the RT Commercial Sales and Marketing team in delivering the Nuton Go-to-Market Strategy

  • Interfacing with the Nuton Procurement Business Partner on critical supply chain strategy execution, along with Nuton Finance Business Partner and RT Business Analysis on project and financial analysis and monitoring

  • Advising on progress of partner collaborations and seeking input from technical teams and others on drivers and milestones, along with assisting to break bottlenecks and improve processes with partners

What you'll bring

  • A strong commitment to safety and environmental sustainability.

  • A bachelor's degree in business or a related field (an advanced degree such as an MS or MBA is preferred).

  • 8+ years of experience in business development, commercial growth, and/or finance.

  • CFA or similar qualification (preferred).

  • Excellent project management and collaboration skills, with experience managing complex, cross-functional projects.

  • The ability to develop and maintain clear, dynamic valuation models for MandA (targets and investment portfolios, including DCF, IRR and sensitivity analyses.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to manage competing priorities and deliver on time-sensitive tasks.

  • A willingness to learn, challenge the status quo, and embrace ambiguity.

  • Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills.

  • A detail-oriented, resourceful mindset with a passion for quality.

  • Experience in technology commercialization and start-ups is a plus; familiarity with the mining and mineral processing industry is preferred.
