JOB SUMMARY
Supervises continuous operation of Utah Transit Authority (UTA)s Light Rail System, integrating system support services of Rail Service with other UTA departments into a unified transportation product. Supervises Light Rail Service Operations to meet the goal of a safe, reliable, and friendly system. Fosters a climate of communication, cooperation, and respect. Manages, coaches, motivates, disciplines, and communicates with direct report employees. Develops team to for career growth opportunities and other succession planning. Investigates and resolves customer complaints including calling back customers when requested. When necessary, acts as Field Supervisor and performs training to ensure that a good transportation value is received, and is directly responsible for daily rail service. Performs Train Operator efficiency checks and ensures that Train Operator training and re-training occurs timely. Performs evaluations and goal setting reviews with all employees. Represents department in meetings internally and externally. Will assist with ensuring employees are fit for duty and following policies and procedures for properly reporting for work. Creates and maintains daily Light Rail Operator schedule. Creates schedules for days worked, bid days off, and to fill in for unexpected time off including sick time, Personal Time, FMLA, and any other issues that arise.
Monitors policies and Teamsters CBA agreements that pertain to any type of time off requests from the employees. Follows applicable federal guidelines to maintaining compliance. Works alongside the Light Rail Planner ensuring that work for each change day meets revenue service needs. Works with other departments including Strategic Planners, Operations Planners, Operations Business Systems Analysts, and TRAX Training. This includes planning schedules, Teamsters CBA run-cut, creating block sheets, and supervising the bid day process for TRAX operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Associate degree in Business Management or a related field.
EXPERIENCE:
Must have four years of leadership experience which may include supervision, operating instructor, union position, or other relevant supervisory experience. Good previous job performance. (In evaluating previous job performance, the following will be considered: missouts, non-FMLA protected unscheduled absences, and formal disciplinary actions.) Two years of work experience in the Transit industry preferred.
Must have a valid Utah driver's license. Must be a safe driver with no more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years. Have no convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol, any drug, or the combined influence of any alcohol or any drug within the last 10 years.

Abilities:
- Pass basic level skills test in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Learn and manage information in UTAs systems, including OWATS and Kronos, Microsoft office, but is not limited to other systems.
- Pass basic grammar skills test.
- Perform the physical requirements of the job to include regular walking in a quick manner on uneven surfaces, floor to waist lifting up to 25 lbs. regularly, reaching/lifting overhead up to 10 lbs., climbing into and out of a Rail Service vehicle at non-station locations, kneeling and working in tight spaces to lace trains, and prolonged periods of sitting and standing.

Preferred Abilities:
- Pass and acquire DOT medical certification.
- Pass FRA required Audiometric and Colorblind tests.
Pass and maintain the requirements for a Train Operator license.

Payrate: $71,460.48 annually
