Performs technical procedures in a research laboratory under minimal supervision by applying standard scientific techniques and analytical principles. Records observations and measurements and reports results. May be responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining cleanrooms and equipment. May assist with receiving and inspecting raw materials and ordering and stocking materials and equipment. The applicant must be comfortable working with rodents.Prior research experience in neuroscience, chemical biology, molecular biology, and/or chemistry research is highly desired. Applicants with one or more of the following skills are a significant plus: (1) mouse colony maintenance, breeding, and genotyping; (2) survival surgeries (virus injections and canulations); (3) animal behavior; (4) perfusions and histology; (5) molecular cloning; (6) mammalian cell culture; (7) microscopy; (8) slice electrophysiology; (9) chemical synthesis and purification; (10) computer programming.The position is initially for one year and, with satisfactory performance, can be renewed. Applicants looking for longer commitments as they prepare for their next career phase are highly desirable.
