This is a full time Lab Specialist position working within a group studying the genetics and function of blood cells (www.plateletlab.com). The Lab Specialist performs and oversees technical procedures in a research laboratory under minimal supervision by applying standard scientific techniques and analytical principles. Records observations and measurements and reports results. Procedures may include cell and molecular biology techniques including cell culture, immunoprecipitation, western blot, PCR, design and implementation of CRISPR/CAS9 transfections and readouts, lentiviral production, and human and mouse cell isolations. May perform mouse blood draws and injections, prepare animals for surgery, and provide post-operative care. May supervise student research. May be responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining cleanrooms and equipment. May assist with receipt and inspection of raw materials and ordering and stocking of materials and equipment.
