State of Utah - Jobs General Services - Warehouse Worker in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

Are you organized? Can you complete tasks on time? The Utah State Tax Commission seeks you to serve as a *General Services - Warehouse Worker. You need to be self motivated and organized.  You need the skills required to operate a computer and keyboard regularly. This position requires a valid Drivers License. You will need to be able to lift up to 50 lbs.,and pass a criminal background check.   Principal Duties * **The primary duties are:

  • General warehouse responsibilities - 
    • receive,disburse,and manage product using an inventory management system
    • pick up secured shred throughout the building and out lying offices,maintain it,and dispose of it according to our confidential material guidelines
    • complete daily counts of warehouse items and compile reports using Microsoft Excel.
  • Shipping and Receiving - deliver and/or ship product to outlying offices as well as deliver through our building
  • Building Cubicles and Moving Office Furniture - assisting coworkers with putting together modular furniture (which may require lifting,bending,crouching,and kneeling) 

*The Ideal Candidate * The best qualified candidate will:

  • use of warehouse equipment on a routine basis,e.g.,forklift,pallet jack
  • frequent lifting and/or carrying heavy items
  • drive the box truck to make deliveries
  • be self initiated and have great customer service skills.

*Salary*

*Non-state employees are hired for this position only at entry level,$16.42an hour. **Current state employees are subject to DHRM rules on transfer s or promotions.  We are unable to negotiate hourly wage amounts.

  • Health Insurance - Public Employee Health Program (PEHP):
    • 3 medical plan options. Choose a Traditional or High Deductible Health Plan. (There is an Opt-Out Cash Benefit option for those that have other medial insurance coverage)

  • Retirement - Utah Retirement Systems (URS):
    • Employees hired on or after than 7/1/2011 and have never been in the URS retirement system have two options for retirement in the Tier II System. Employer contributions to your 401(k) are vested after four years. 
    • Employees who have any service credit with an employer covered by the Utah Retirement Systems prior to 7/1/2011 are in Tier I Public Employees System.
      • Tier 2 Hybrid Retirement System. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary between both plans (pension and 401(k)) 
      • Tier 2 Defined Contribution Plan. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary to a 401(k) plan only.  
    • Employees who have any service credit with an employer covered by the Utah Retirement Systems prior to 7/1/2011 are in Tier I Public Employees System.
  • Paid Time Off
    • Annual leave and sick leave are accrued at 4 hours per pay period each (4 hours annual,4 hours sick). 
    • Annual leave increases with years of service. 
    • There are also 12 paid holidays.
