Maverik Environmental Response Manager in Salt Lake City, Utah

Maverik / Kum & Go is seeking a Environmental Response Manager to oversee environmental regulations, emergency response, investigations, remediation design, UST removal, and air quality compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental science, be a self-starter, and interact effectively with regulators and team members. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages state and federal regulatory environmental compliance for leaking underground storage tanks, surface spills, and air quality primarily for the Midwest States including but not limited to AR, CO, IA, MI, MN, MO, NE, ND, OK, SD.
Leads surface and subsurface investigations of soil and groundwater contamination
Oversees remediation system design and development of corrective action plans for clean-up of fuel hydrocarbon
Directs the removal of UST systems including development of closure plans and soil/groundwater sampling, as necessary
Ensures compliance with air quality regulations and permitting requirements for new and existing stores
Participates in emergency responses to surface spills and subsurface leaks from Maverik/K&G Underground Storage Tanks (USTs) or fuel trucks.
Directs hazardous and non-hazardous waste removal, disposal, and compliance efforts
Assists with the development and implementation of spill prevention and response plans
Monitors regulatory compliance changes and communicates changes to company stakeholders in a timely manner
Ensures timely and compliant submission of environmental reports and mandatory documents to regulatory agencies
Ability to travel to and conduct field work (up to 25% or more, if needed) at Maverik/K&G stores and projects in the Midwest States

Qualifications: Education
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree of science in engineering or an environmental discipline preferred.
Qualifications: Experience
5+ years of experience with environmental compliance preferred.
2+ years’ experience of environmental agency resolution and negotiation preferred.
Established relationships with regulators in the Midwest States preferred
