Job Summary

Representing a high-impact approach to improving student outcomes, Engage U aims to facilitate innovative and holistic pathways to higher education for all students. The Engage U team coordinates targetted programming, performs engagement-centered community outreach, and supports satellite hubs that serve as a first-stop resource referral center to help direct current and prospective students toward the full suite of university services and resources, such as admissions, transfer student success, financial aid, and academic advising. Engage U programming centers around improving access to and demystifying available student support services, and often requires partnership with internal campus partners to provide content area expertise.

The Engage U program manager works closely with other academic and student success units at the University of Utah and with partner institutions like Salt Lake Community College.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of the Engage U strategic vision, including facilitation of core programming initiatives, creation of annual programming plans, and expansion of programming into schools and the community at-large.

  • Assist Engage U coordinators in planning, developing, and implementing exploration opportunities, including resource fairs, industry visits, parent sessions, community activities, and opportunities to partner with other institutions and departments when relevant.

  • Guide programming assessment, which includes developing learning outcomes, measuring impact, and establishing strategies for continuous program improvement.

  • Develop familiarity with available college access and university resources and refer current and prospective students to the correct resource in a timely and effective manner.

  • Work closely and in partnership with Herriman campus leadership, and staff at other satellite locations, to assist in the implementation of programs that support campus strategic initiatives and action plans.

  • Work collaboratively with other university departments and main campus content and service experts to implement targeted strategies to enhance student success services from students’ start to finish.

  • This position currently supervises one coordinator, with the possibility for increased supervisory responsibilities as the Engage U program grows.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus two years of related experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.

Preferences

  • Computer skills including word processing, presentation, creative, and spreadsheet software experience.

  • Familiarity with the University of Utah’s academic processes preferred.
