The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is seeking a skilled Digital Systems & Communications UX Manager to join our team. You will be instrumental in enhancing the user experience of UDOT's digital platforms, ensuring information is accurate, accessible and secure. You will be a key contributor to improving how the public interacts with UDOT online. This position combines website administration duties with a strong focus on user experience (UX) design and research. You will be responsible for maintaining and coordinating with Division leaders to update UDOT websites, ensuring they are secure, performant, and meet accessibility standards. Simultaneously, you will conduct user research, design intuitive user interfaces, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve the overall user experience of platforms such as websites and mobile applications.  Principal Duties As the Digital Systems & Communications UX Manager, you will:

  • Maintain and update UDOT websites, ensuring content accuracy, functionality, and security.
  • Implement and manage content management systems (CMS).
  • Monitor website performance and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Ensure websites comply with UDOT's Branding Style Guide and accessibility guidelines (WCAG).
  • Manage website backups and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Collaborate with IT staff to implement security updates and patches.
  • Collaborate with Customer Experience Manager on user research to understand user needs, behaviors, and pain points.
  • Design user-centered interfaces for websites and other digital platforms.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs.
  • Conduct usability testing and gather user feedback.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to incorporate user feedback into design iterations.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest UX trends and best practices

Minimum Qualifications In order to qualify, you must have:

  • A Bachelor's degree, or higher, in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Design, or a related field, OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience in website administration, including CMS management and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with user research methodologies, including usability testing and user interviews.
  • A strong understanding of web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Proficiency in UX design tools and techniques (e.g., wireframing, prototyping, visual design).
  • Knowledge of accessibility guidelines (WCAG).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferences Preference may be given to those with at least one of the following:

  • Experience with specific CMS platforms used by UDOT (Salesforce and Qualtrics).
  • Experience with website analytics tools.
  • Experience working in a government or public sector environment.

  • Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; be nding; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
  • Employee may be reassigned to a different location as deemed necessary by the Region Director/Group Leader.
