Summary:
Renewable Energy Systems Americas, Inc. (RES-Americas), an expanding Wind, Solar, Energy Storage, and Transmission company, is seeking a Controls Software Engineering Manager in the Control Systems Department. This position will be responsible for leading a team of engineers to design and deliver various control systems for applications across RES’ fleet. This position will work with various areas of the business to understand requirements and develop and deploy production level software code on renewable energy projects. They will leverage their experience to make technical decisions about control systems and the structure and approach the team takes. They will work cross functionally and collaboratively across a variety of internal functions to create new control system products for use across RES’ technologies and markets.
Requirements:
Lead the technical design and development of edge-based controller products for wind, solar, and energy storage systems.
Work collaboratively across RES teams to ensure that all stakeholders’ requirements are addressed, and solutions are delivered efficiently.
Develop a diverse and talented team of engineers and software developers to innovate ideas and deliver solutions that meet or exceed our customers’ expectations.
Lead the development of balanced software development and testing processes that produce high-quality results on schedule.
Participate in software development tasks as appropriate.
Develop budgets and resource plans to meet department goals.
Participate in department strategic planning.
Participate in relevant due diligence evaluations of business partners, engineering designs, and business development activities as required.
Identify and help develop intellectual property opportunities.
Apply engineering knowledge and experience with renewable energy to control system design.
Design and document contractual testing procedures for control systems.
Ensure that all product and project safety and security requirements are met.
Stay current with professional and industrial best practices.
Follow any other job-related duties/functions requested by your supervisor.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Master’s degree a plus.
Minimum 5 years of experience leading a software engineering team.
Experience leading a team through technically complex product development.
Minimum 10 years of experience developing software and deploying into a production environment.
Minimum 5 years of experience with control systems deployed to PLCs, PACs, RTACs, and/or embedded systems. Experience deploying control systems across wind, solar, or energy storage a plus.
Proficient in C# and Python. Able to provide effective code review in these languages.
Experience with Azure, IoT Edge framework, and Docker.
Experience with SCADA data acquisition, processing, and storage in a relational database and/or the cloud.
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English; other languages such as Spanish, French, or Chinese a plus.
Ability to effectively communicate complex technical ideas to a diverse international audience.
Ability to effectively collaborate with external partners including customers and vendors.
Knowledge of power industry communication protocols (OPC, Modbus, DNP3, IEC61850).
Knowledge of networks and security best practices.
Valid driver's license required.
Willing to travel 25% of the time.
Anticipated Base Salary Range: $135,000 to $160,000
