Job Summary:
The chosen candidate for this role will set up and operate a variety of manual and CNC controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling and drill presses to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions by performing the following duties. In addition will maintain quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. Work Schedule: 2nd Shift, Monday – Thursday, 4:00 PM - 2:30 AM
Primary Responsibilities:
Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specification or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
Measures, marks and scribes’ dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as guides for subsequent machining.
Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines such as mills and lathes.
Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cut.
Operates and observes machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications- Sets up and operates CNC/manual mills and/or lathes- Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly
Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly- Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines and equipment and tests operations of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
Develops specification from general descriptions and draws sketches of parts or products to be fabricated.
Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications (Education/Skills/Experience):
High School or GED
One year college or technical school certificate preferred
6 years of related experience
5 Axis preferred
Proficient experience with MS Suite Office
Excellent writing and communication skills
Ability to work and understand complex blueprints, sketches, and manuals
Knowledge and experience in observation of machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-balance situations.
