The Campus Safety Officer provides personnel, equipment, and real property security for faculty, staff, students and visitors at all Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) properties and locations. Protecting them from vandalism, theft, destruction, and other adverse conditions. Ensures all buildings, offices, and sensitive areas are locked. Works with law enforcement to ensure safety in the various parking areas.

The function of this position has been designated as "essential", which means that when the College is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at the College.

This position is required to work various shifts including days, swings, nights, weekends, and holidays. This is an un-armed position.

• Provides personnel security for faculty, staff, students and visitors at all SLCC properties and locations.
• Maintains security of buildings, facilities, equipment, etc., and protects them from vandalism, theft, destruction, and other adverse conditions.
• Observes physical hazards or potential hazards and takes the appropriate steps to report items to the various divisions.
• Serves as the point of contact for Facilities for snow removal or other adverse conditions.Observes, informs, and serves as a witness for law enforcement officers investigating a crime.
• Reports injuries which occur on campus, campus rules and regulations violations.
• Responds to non-police calls such as unlocking doors for instructors and assisting with problems.
• Provides escort services for visitors, students, staff, and faculty as necessary.
• Provides other services such as lockouts and jumpstarts for vehicles.
• Assists parking services after hours for boot removal.
• Maintains data (logs) and prepares security reports.
• Other duties as assigned.
