Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Business Systems Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in copier/print management software and network support. This role involves managing and resolving issues related to PaperCut and other copier systems, ensuring seamless integration and operation within our network. The Business Systems Analyst will also be responsible for supporting internal IT infrastructure for University of Utah Print & Mail Services, implementing production devices, and adhering to university security policies.

Responsibilities

  1. Copier/Print Management:

  2. Administer and troubleshoot copier/print management software, PaperCut.

  3. Resolve issues related to the PaperCut system, including server and environment problems.

  4. Oversee the successful implementation of new copier fleet devices into the monitoring network and/or PaperCut system.

  5. Manage all copier fleet network VLANs and IP address data.

Customer Support:

  • Serve as the primary customer-facing contact for issues related to PaperCut and network problems.

  • Provide timely and effective support to resolve user issues and enhance system functionality.

System Interfaces:

  • Manage interfaces to PaperCut, including UIT database feed and Atrium feed.

  • Administer MPS Monitor connections to copier fleet devices using SNMPv3.

Device and Network Support:

  • Support internal IT infrastructure, including production floor device servers and non-desktop device security.

  • Deploy print drivers and shares for both Windows and Mac systems, with a focus on Windows environments.

  • Assist with internal testing and support for copier fleet devices.

Provide general Desktop Support for internal team with the following responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues

  • Providing technical support and training to end-users

  • Collaborating with vendor support teams to resolve device/networking issues

  • Assist with occasional desktop and laptop support issues within the department

  • Ensuring compliance with organizational IT policies and procedures.

Database and Security:

  • Knowledge of SQL database structures and query usage

  • Assist with internal security policy updates and security patches as needed.

Communication and Documentation:

  • Effectively communicate IT, database, and network concepts to university staff.

  • Document and interpret technical information for various stakeholders.

Other Duties:

  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support the department’s goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires an associate’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with relational database concepts, and client-server concepts.

Preferences

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience:

  • Experience with copier/print management software (e.g., PaperCut, Uniflow, PrinterLogic) is highly preferred.

  • Experience deploying print drivers and managing network VLANs

  • Knowledge of SNMPv3 for MPS Monitor connections.

  • Familiarity with SQL and basic database language.

  • Strong customer service skills with experience in a customer-facing role.

  • Ability to communicate complex IT concepts to non-technical users.

  • Skills:

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem resolution for copier systems and print management software.

  • Experience with network management, including IP address data and VLANs.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Additional Information:

  • Certification in print management software, IT systems, or database administration are a big plus.

  • Limited travel around campus may be required for troubleshooting or implementing new devices.
