SALT LAKE COMMUNITY COLLEGE Adjunct, Transition to Teaching in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

  1. Incumbent will be responsible for all tasks and activities related to the delivery of course content including test administration, record keeping, and management of an effective learning environment.
  2. The approved course curriculum must be followed, per SLCC policy, assuring successful completion of identified student learning outcomes.

  3. Provide online, lecture, or hybrid instruction which promotes mastery of subject knowledge and skills as well as student learning success.

  4. Give timely feedback to students on assignments, quizzes, exams, projects; clearly communicate expectation related to coursework; maintain open line of communication with program manager; maintain student records as required by the College and program manager; conduct pre-post course survey; adapt curriculum to meet current industry trends and/or standards.
  5. Incorporate class discussions, student presentations, assignments, exams, and hands-on activities to engage and assess student learning outcomes.
  6. Support program assessment initiatives.
  7. Follow SLCC policies and procedures.
  8. Revise/update curriculum as needed.

  9. Becomes familiar with, and abides by, all college policies with immediate priority given to those policies that govern interactions with colleagues, staff, administrators, and departments throughout the organization

  10. Maintains professional etiquette in communications with students, staff, faculty, and administrators
  11. Provides appropriate and timely feedback for all assignments
  12. Returns graded assignments in a timely fashion per department standards
  13. Maintains student attendance records (for Financial Aid purposes) and grades
  14. Conducts a variety of appropriate evaluations of student performance
  15. Informs students of progress-to-date periodically and assigns and submits grades by published deadlines
  16. Assists in maintaining a safe and mutually respectful instructional environment
  17. Prepares and submits incident reports to Dean of Student Services for inappropriate student behavior as defined by the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy
  18. Maintains professional and collegial behavior
  19. Handles/responds to student concerns/complaints, and responds to student communications and inquiries promptly (generally within 12 days)
  20. Maintains professional appearance as defined by the discipline and/or College procedure
  21. Completes all required employee trainings
  22. Knows and enforces FERPA guidelines
  23. Provides ADA accommodations as requested
  24. Other job related duties as required
