The Division of General Pediatrics at the University of Utah is looking for an outstanding full-time pediatrician to join our growing faculty of clinician-educators and researchers. We are a Division of Generalists, Developmental-Behavioral specialists, and Quality Improvement experts that work collaboratively to provide clinical care, educate future health care providers, conduct research, and engage in advocacy in settings where normally developing children and children with special health care needs receive high value comprehensive team-based care that is flexible and responsive to new health care delivery models.
The pediatrician will primarily provide direct patient care at the University Hospital Well Baby and Intermediate Care Nurseries. The remaining effort will be in our ambulatory settings at our University Pediatric Clinic and/or Sugar House Health Centers. Clinical duties include evening and weekend shifts. The pediatrician will be expected to take weekday and weekend call as needed by the Division. In addition to comprehensive team-based care, there is an expectation to participate in scholarly activities such as educating future health care providers, developing newborn care processes, and developing newborn follow-up programs. This could include quality improvement research and engaging in advocacy for newborns.
Qualified candidates must be Board Eligible or Board Certified in General Pediatrics, must be proficient with both performing circumcisions and precepting these procedures with learners, and must be able to work some evenings and weekend shifts. Experience in teaching and quality improvement projects is preferred as well as candidates with experience in caring for children with complex medical conditions. The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical or Tenure track at the academic level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
