Sr. Network Platform Engineer

Overview:

The Sr. Network Platform Engineer will lead the engineering, delivery, and operations of network platforms, focusing on data center networks. This role manages mission-critical network infrastructure across data center and cloud solutions and supports the strategy to transform network architecture. Responsibilities include delivering shared communication infrastructure, managing MSPs and suppliers, and ensuring secure, reliable connectivity for all retail locations, corporate offices, and distribution centers. Targeting experience with Cisco ACI and F5 Load Balancers.

This position is a 6 month Contract and will be hybrid (2 days on site in Salisbury, NC 3 days WFH).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Management: Oversee connectivity for on-premises, cloud, and SaaS applications, collaborating with network teams and service delivery.

  • Operations & Troubleshooting: Engage in day-to-day operations, resolving issues with external partners and internal teams.

  • Network Design: Serve as an expert in designing and implementing secure, high-performing network systems and infrastructure.

  • Documentation & Standards: Ensure network documentation and standards are up to date and consistently followed.

  • Project Oversight: Deliver network projects on time and within budget.

  • Datacenter & Cloud Technologies: Utilize expertise in data center technologies (DDI, load balancers) and cloud solutions (firewalls, proxies).

  • Advanced Networking: Manage LAN/WAN/SDN infrastructures, with knowledge of VXLANs, NATs, and tunneling protocols.

  • Automation: Automate network devices using Ansible, Python, and related tools, with a focus on performance management.

  • Technology Expertise: Work with Cisco, Arista, Palo Alto, Zscaler, F5, and Aruba technologies.

  • Incident Management: Act as an escalation point for MSPs during incident management, driving continuous improvement.

  • Collaboration: Work with the Network Architecture team to implement solutions and suggest improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or network technologies or equivalent professional experience

  • Experience: Extensive experience in large-scale network architectures (WAN, LAN, VoIP, Security, Wireless).

  • Technical Skills: Strong networking foundation (CCNA/CCNP/CCIE level), with expertise in L2 & L3 technologies.

  • Cisco ACI

  • F5 Load Balancers

Preferred:

  • Experience: 8+ years in large-scale networks.

  • Certifications: CCIE, CCNP, Aruba, Zscaler, Fortinet.

  • Agile Experience: Familiarity with agile (SAFe) environments.
