Hexagon Agility Quality Inspector I in SALISBURY, North Carolina

Help us drive energy transformation by performing system inspections while working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Inspects product and monitors the manufacturing process according to established standards.

Hexagon Agility is a leading global provider of clean fuel solutions in the transport sector.  Our technology enables it hard to decarbonize segments – such as trucks and buses – to move from diesel to cleaner fuel alternatives.

We are looking for an ambitious and driven colleague that wants to work closely with our local operations team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interpret mechanical drawings and specifications to measure complex dimensions such as weld symbols, bend angles/locations, squareness, radius, thread sizes and port depths.

  • Conduct inspections and evaluations to identify nonconforming material and equipment.

  • Support the nonconforming material system to implement containment and dispositions.

  • Train Quality Inspectors on interpretation of complex mechanical drawings and proper measurement techniques.

  • Conduct targeted studies of process capability, and gage repeatability/reproducibility.

  • Check whether established control plans are adequate and effective in all phases of production.

  • Assist manufacturing operations to quickly identify, contain and permanently resolve quality issues.

  • Perform internal Quality Management System (ISO 9001) and process audits.

  • Maintain gage checking and calibration systems.

  • Assist in the improvement of product and service quality by conducting root cause analysis, planning corrective and preventive actions, and verifying the results (8D).

  • Represent the Quality Team as a point of contact for daily production support.

  • Train quality inspectors on complex mechanical drawings and proper measurement and inspection techniques.

  • Review supplier PPAP’s for conformance and approve/reject as necessary.

  • Support the creation of customer PPAP’s (dimensional reports, bubbling prints and other aspects assigned by QE)

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and excel (complex formulas, pivot tables, conditional formatting)

  • Knowledge of effective and proactive product quality planning to be able to support the development and launch of new products.

Credentials and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED required.

  • Associates degree in a technical discipline is preferred .

  • 3+ years’ experience in a quality assurance or quality control role is required.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial work setting is required.

  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and specifications is required.

  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) experience is desired.

  • Experience with ISO 9001 requirements is preferred.

  • Experience with precision measurement devices and equipment is required.

  • Working knowledge and proficiency with SPC, gage R&R, and basic quality tools (check sheets, flow charts, control charts, histograms, and scatter diagrams) is preferred.

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands

  • The employee must lift and/or move up to 10 pounds on a limited basis and up to 40lbs occasionally. The employee must regularly use stairs and kneel to perform inspections. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
