The Challenge

We are looking for a skilled mechanic to join our Rowan County Equipment team.

In this role, you will:

  • Service and repair mechanical systems of gas/diesel-powered automotive and heavy equipment.
  • Perform mechanic work at various levels. Work assignments vary in complexity depending on the type of mechanical system.
  • Perform skilled mechanic work, including Preventive Maintenance on Tires, Tubes, Wheels, Rims, Cranking Systems, Lighting Systems, Cooling Systems, Fuel Systems, and Hydraulic Systems.

What You Bring

  • A complete set of mechanic tools.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing 1+ of the following: light, medium, heavy duty, or farm equipment brake components.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance on 1+ of the following: light, medium, heavy-duty trucks, and heavy equipment.
  • Diagnostics experience with basic electrical systems and proper wiring repairs.
  • Basic hydraulic system repairs including component replacement and hoses.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic software, tools, and equipment for trucks and heavy equipment.
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker (N) endorsement. (If you don't have this, still apply. You can get it through our on-the-job training within 360 days of hire).
  • Ability to work during any bad weather, such as snow and/or ice, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. that can lead to working extended daily hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Commitment to following safety regulations.
  • You can prepare and maintain paperwork related to employment, equipment repair, inventory, and service record.
  • You understand written and verbal instructions.
  • You have the strength and agility to move parts and materials to repair and maintain equipment.
  • You can safely operate a motor vehicle and equipment for testing purposes.
  • Ability to read and interpret Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals.

Notes

  • We will conduct a pre-employment drug screening and background check for your past 3 years about controlled substances and alcohol testing.
  • We may require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III, or Universal Technician.

Education and Experience

  • High School/GED diploma, and
  • 2+ years of relevant experience, or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
