POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Dean of Curriculum and Academic Innovation, the Director of Learning Experience Management serves as a crucial member of the academic and student success department. The Director serves as the LMS (Blackboard) administrator, oversees quality assurance, and leads the execution and support the vision, planning, development, and operational performance of Salem Universitys online learning experiences. The Director will partner closely with academic leadership, faculty, staff, and vendors to lead short- and long-term goals that support student learning and improved connections between content, the university, and outcomes. The Director will also support the ongoing curriculum revision cycle and create scalable processes to provide a best-in-class user experience. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Work closely with the Dean of Curriculum and Academic Innovation to ensure the courses meet the institutional standards and the standards of the accrediting bodies. Develop and implement a comprehensive quality assurance process for all online courses, including regular reviews and audits to ensure compliance with institutional standards and best practices. Proactively manage the LMS roadmap, enhancements, roll outs, new functionality, appearance, and settings. Responsible for the monthly rollout of all courses. Manage the daily operation, use, configuration, and governance of the LMS. Lead the integration of all third-party content/tools to ensure one continuous learner experience. Use data analytics to monitor course performance and student outcomes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes. Develop and implement scripts, plugins, and integrations to extend the functionality of the LMS, ensuring compatibility with existing tools and technologies. Create and updates resources to support students and faculty to use the LMS and get the support needed for long term success. Identify and communicate opportunities for process and quality improvements and communicate suggested enhancements and solutions. Support the design of instructor-led and online programs partnering with vendors and faculty as required; actively consult and support curriculum revisions. Manage the LMS infrastructure, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, to ensure seamless access and functionality for all users. Collaborate with IT and other departments to maintain server stability, software updates, and integration with other institutional systems. Assist in developing and maintaining an organized view of learning content, resources and tools for student achievement and faculty best practices; ensure scalability. Coordinate efforts and systems to support student success including access to tutoring services. Write and maintain technical procedures and policy documentation for the learning management system. Follow systems, policies, and procedures in compliance with governmental and University policies. Other duties as assigned by academic leadership. Ability to think independently and have team leadership. Demonstrates an understanding of business and educational issues at the local, state and federal levels. Demonstrates ability to lead within a collegial environment with or without direct authority. Experience in higher education undergraduate and graduate admissions. Functional knowledge of integrating technology systems into business practice. Functional knowledge of Power BI and Blackboard Analytics.
