Medical Scheduler

Job Description

The medical scheduler will monitor providers' orders, identify patient information, verify all processes have been completed for timely scheduling, and work with other facilities to ensure that all orders from the provider are complete to allow for accurate treatment. The medical scheduler will coordinate the care for patients with various diagnoses, ranging from blood disorders to complex cancer diagnoses. Via telephone, the medical scheduler assists patients in coordinating treatment and appointments according to orders from the provider, which can include office visits, treatments, labs, and imaging with an emphasis on complete care coordination scheduling. Additional responsibilities include scheduling orders in queue in a timely manner, maintaining an appointment reminder phone system, and cross-training in other areas such as prior authorization. Effective communication and collaboration with team members are essential to ensure a smooth workflow.

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years previous experience in a medical office setting including experience scheduling, electronic medical records and practice management systems.

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Ability to maintain organization while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment

  • Scheduling
