As a turnkey aerospace supplier with extensive capabilities, gathering objective cost data for subcontract activities as well as material and labor cost elements to support the construction of pricing in response to customer solicitations is significant to our success.

As Labor Estimator at Seyer Industries, you will make a difference!We are looking for a Labor Estimator to review and understand Bills of Material as defined by Labor Estimators and prepare and submit recommendations for material and processing costs to be used in final pricing to the customer.

ABOUT SEYER INDUSTRIES

Founded in 1957, Seyer Industries is a small business located in St. Peters, Missouri, specializing in high-complexity machined parts and assemblies for the aerospace and maritime industries. Seyer is a turnkey supplier with extensive capabilities, including CNC machining, design engineering, mechanical assembly, chemical processing, painting, kitting, welding, and NADCAP-certified penetrant and magnetic particle inspection. JOB DUTIES:

  • Responsible for reviewing and understanding customer provided engineering drawings, specifications, standards, directed sources of supply, etc.
  • Responsible for organizing details from information identified above in preparation for establishing labor estimates, bills of material, processing requirements, subcontract requirements, etc.
  • Responsible for establishing labor hour estimates to machine detail parts, assemble details, application of finishes, internal processing, weld, pack, ship and other labor hour estimates as required.
  • Responsible for identifying materials, processes, product features that inherently involve manufacturing risks and mitigating risk exposure to Seyer through in depth, detailed analysis of customer supplied data and communicating these risks with management for consideration in the pricing process.
  • When necessary, coordinate with subject matter experts within various manufacturing departments within Seyer Industries for input into labor hour estimates and ensure requirements of customer Request for Proposal can be met.
  • Maintain technical knowledge of internal cap bilities, processes and procedures to ensure accuracy of quotes.
  • When needed, respond to "quick turn" estimating as required by Internal Sales Manager.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with 6S standards.
  • In support of Internal Sales Manager and Estimating Department:
    1. Explore labor estimating process improvements.
    2. Pursue material estimating process efficiency improvements.
    3. Coordinate with Sales and Estimating Team to ensure process integrity.
