The Department of Criminal Justice and Forensic Science at Hamline University invites applications for a Visiting Professor in criminology to begin Fall 2024. As a department, we focus on providing undergraduate education in criminology and criminal justice by focusing on theory, method, practice, and high impact educational experiences. The department provides a robust undergraduate education that provides students with a well-rounded perspective of the criminal justice system. The department offers undergraduate degrees in criminology and criminal justice (https://www.hamline.edu/academics/undergraduate/criminology) and forensic science (https://www.hamline.edu/academics/undergraduate/forensic-science) , In addition, the department offers concentrations in forensic psychology (https://www.hamline.edu/academics/undergraduate/psychology/forensic-psychology-concentration) , peace officer standards and training (http://bulletin.hamline.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=34&poid=3902&returnto=1745) , and public policy (http://bulletin.hamline.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=34&poid=4171&returnto=1745) . The successful candidate will teach in the criminology and criminal justice major.

Successful candidates will have:

  • Commitment to teaching excellence;

  • Demonstrated record of supporting students from diverse backgrounds;

  • Ability to teach a range of required courses in the field and develop electives in areas of expertise

Visiting faculty teach seven courses per academic year. A Masters or higher in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or related field is required; ABD applicants with expected defense dates by August 30th, 2024 will also be considered.
