The Principal Systems Engineer is responsible for design, analysis, configuration and maintenance of complex systems software solutions, based on a thorough knowledge of systems engineering and programming concepts and techniques. Systems software engineering/programming is a specialized area of software engineering/programming focused on software that operates/controls computer hardware and provides a platform for running end user applications. Includes operating systems, device drivers, utilities, and software; development tools (e.g., assemblers, compilers, etc.). The Principal Systems Engineer provides strategic advice and guidance to functional team(s). Highly skilled with broad, advanced technical experience.

This role works with senior executives and technical leaders to develop and drive segment or enterprise-wide functional strategies. Advises one or more areas, programs or functions and provides recommendations to senior executives on matters of significance. This role is considered an advanced subject matter expert and competent to work at very high levels in multiple knowledge and functional areas across the enterprise. Highly skilled with broad, advanced technical experience in workplace and end-user technologies is foundational to role responsibilities.

Job Description Details

  • Provide SME-level expertise across multiple components/domains spanning end-user computing, device management, OS and policy management, and unified communication and collaboration.

  • The ability to continuously grow engineering team skill sets as technology evolves, providing guidance, training and mentoring.

  • Provides technical domain expertise of EUC and UCC technologies for the purpose of enterprise-solution integration, e.g. identity management, networking, security and risk management.

  • Establish repeatable frameworks including common artifacts for Lead SEs to deliver solution designs that are readily consumable by product teams to expedite value delivery.

  • Establish practices and processes for our Solutions Engineering team to deliver consistent artifacts and outcomes, expediting proof of concepts and system/solutions design.

  • Aligns product strategies/roadmaps, domain architecture, and enterprise architecture for highly complex and critical systems design.

  • Provides guidance and coaching to Lead Solutions and Systems Engineers across the organization.

  • Serve as restoration lead during critical outages where highly technical expertise is required.

Strategic Initiatives (6-12mo)

  • Creation of automation and GenAI strategic and technical capability roadmaps.

  • Creation and oversight of Engineering process documentation for development, implementation and governance standards.

  • Creation and implementation of technology cost (TCO) frameworks and artifacts for existing end-user technology product catalogs.

Required Qualifications

Typically requires a bachelor's degree, in some instances a Master's or Doctorate's degree, and 10+ years of technical experience, or equivalent, and 2-5 years of project/people leadership.

Additional Information

Work-At-Home Requirements

  • WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.

  • A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required.

  • Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$139,500 - $192,000 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
