Xcel Energy Manager, Gas Standards in Saint Paul, Minnesota

Position Summary

Provides visionary and strategic leadership while directing development of gas distribution and transmission design and construction standards throughout Xcel Energy's multi-state operating area. Accountable for attaining corporate and business unit goals and objectives. Responsible for compliance with DOT and state pipeline safety regulations and all other applicable codes.

Essential Responsibilities

Accountable for establishing distribution and transmission design standards to maximize savings associated with material and construction practices. Standards are continuously developed, revised, and maintained to take advantage of evolving materials and construction methods. Manage highly skilled technical group with responsibility for standards development and regulatory compliance. Prepare and manage business plans and budgets for Gas Standards.

Establish and champion the Unit's business plan, goals, and objectives in line with corporate and business unit strategic goals and initiatives. Provide strategic direction for all functions of Gas Standards.

Develops leadership, selects and retains a multi-functional, diversified, well-trained, motivated, and empowered workforce. Models innovative approaches. Promotes employee involvement in continuous learning, career planning, and enhancing job/industry knowledge and skills. Promotes professional registration for engineers.

Responsible for effective, efficient, and competitive utilization of resources with emphasis on compliance, safety, cost, and customer satisfaction.

Works closely with Capacity Planning, System Performance, service providers, and contractors to optimize utilization of company and contractor resources.

Establish effective working relationships with related business units and Operating Companies to maximize efficiency, responsiveness, and resource allocation.

Utilizes committees, teams, and subject matter experts (as appropriate) to develop comprehensive and cost-effective standards and secure maximum cooperation and buy-in from user groups.

Provide representation in industry groups and organizations.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering required.

Minimum of 5 years' experience in gas delivery system engineering or operations.

Prior management experience preferred.

Preferred qualifications include experience in gas standards, Professional Engineering registration, knowledge of DOT, ASME, NFPA, and model building codes and regulations.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $122,000.00 to $173,933.00 per year
