Actalent Engineering Technician in Saint Paul, Minnesota

Job Title: Engineering TechnicianJob Description

Work with the engineering staff on the assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of precision optomechanical system prototypes and subassemblies for contract engineering projects. Have primary responsibility for completing assigned production project work, following manufacturing procedures, and complying with QA requirements for contract manufacturing projects. Develop assembly, testing, and inspection procedures to maximize product quality and process efficiency. Develop fixturing for testing and alignment. Modify or fabricate mechanical components using milling machine, lathe, and other equipment to obtain required performance. Perform in-process testing. Perform incoming testing and inspection of mechanical components as needed. Maintain and organize lab facilities and tools. Perform outgoing inspection and originate customer-required documentation on completed products. Comply with all Standard Operating Procedures. Foster a cooperative and positive work environment.

Responsibilities

Essential Skills

  • 5 - 10+ years of experience testing and assembling optical equipment.

  • Experience working with Interferometer equipment, centering machines, and autocollimators.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Research and development experience.

  • Testing development expertise.

  • Knowledge of optical engineering and manufacturing.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

Work Environment

This position is onsite with potential for hybrid capabilities depending on the work and title. The work environment requires maintaining and organizing lab facilities and tools, and following all Standard Operating Procedures. Collaboration and a cooperative, positive work environment are highly valued.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
