Position Summary
The Category Development Manager is responsible for developing strong customer relationships by providing category solutions based on business trends, industry trends and category management expertise. This role will also work on developing insightful and actionable reporting, analysis and selling story presentations based on key category trends. Finally, the CDM will lead the development and process of customer category line reviews and be the expert in the customer’s category and key strategic leader to assist with the development of their strategies.
Responsibilities
Category leader with customer to help develop category strategy based on insights and market trends
Develops partnership relationships
Presentation development
Facilitation of planning process – internal and external
Owns customer category line review process
Represents category at broader cross-functional team meetings
Interfaces with other departments (Sales, Sales Planning, Shopper Activation, Marketing, Finance)
Leads planogram development
Conducts competitive analysis that identifies competitor strategies, strengths and weaknesses
What we are looking for
Minimum 3 to 4 years customer facing Sales and/or Category Management experience
BA/BS, Marketing/Business Administration or equivalent experience
Outstanding written & verbal communication skills
Experienced in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Power Point, Access)
Developing & delivering compelling selling stories / presentations
