All About You

Job Description:

Performs work of installing, maintaining and repairing electrical systems, equipment and fixtures.

Primary Duties:

  • Installs new power supply circuits for new equipment and existing equipment and makes complete electrical hookups.

  • Repairs or replaces electrical circuitry or components.

  • Services and operates electrical distribution systems from incoming power supply.

  • Services all distribution panels, all interface connections in controllers to equipment and appliances, lights, receptables, etc.

  • Responds to general maintenance trouble calls as required when not performing electrical work.

  • Assists other maintenance personnel as required

  • Cleans job areas and puts tools in their proper place after job completion.

  • Exemplifies excellent customer relations toward students, parents, visitors, and co-workers.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Benefits for this position are in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement with IUOE Local 148. Union employees receive health, retirement, and tuition benefits, as well as sick time and paid vacation.*

*Hourly Rate: $32.23

Required Qualifications

Education and experience equivalent to:

  • High school diploma or equivalent high certification; supplemented with one (1) year experience in the field of building maintenance. Two (2) years vocational training related to building maintenance preferred. Must be able to lift a minimum of 75 lbs.

  • Must have a State of Missouri Class E or above driver's license or the equivalent from another state prior to employment.

  • 24-hour availability for emergencies and willingness to work overtime.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of electrical maintenance, preferably after having met educational requirements; preferable institutional or heavy commercial experience. Considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the electrical trade.

  • Knowledge of standards, practices, methods, tools and equipment of the trade; knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the electrical trade. Considerable knowledge of the National Electrical Code for electrical installations.

  • Skilled in the use of tools and equipment of the trade and in locating and correcting defects in electrical systems, motors, etc. Must have the ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions and read electrical blueprints.

  • Must be able to work awkward positions and exert considerable effort in moving, repairing and adjusting building equipment. Works from ladders at times.

  • Works occasionally in cold and hot areas sometimes in poorly lighted areas.
