UTAH TECH UNIVERSITY Data Analyst in SAINT GEORGE, Utah

Develop, validate, and test quantitative models, support software, and analytical tools to assist administration in data-informed decision-making. Collaborate with other Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) team members to identify, design, validate, and implement internal process improvements relating to institutional reporting and data analysis, such as automating manual data processes, optimizing data delivery, and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability. Analyze information from administration to understand and define external reporting needs and associated data requirements. Develop methods to collect institutional data and prepare reports for compliance reporting to state and federal agencies that are required for federal funding, participation in student financial aid programs, and other statutory or regulatory obligations (e.g., IPEDS, State Reporting, NCAA, Student Right to Know disclosures, etc.), as well as prepare reports, data summaries, and analysis for general external reporting purposes (e.g., Common Data Set, ACT, US News, etc.). Analyze current data collection and data management techniques and practices and identify ways to optimize and improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality. Collaborate with other OIE team members to analyze, curate, and present institutional data from a variety of sources as needed by the administration. Develop dashboards, web applications, and other interactive tools to model and analyze institutional data and facilitate decision-making and information sharing. Remote work from anywhere within the state of Utah permitted. Requires a Bachelor's degree in related field and 2 years of successful work experience in a data-intensive environment. Special Skills: Proficiency with SQL programming and data retrieval. Preferences: Experience working in higher education or other closely related field preferred but not required. Experience with Higher Education Information Systems and/or Reporting Systems (such as Banner, Argos, etc.) preferred but not required. Would hire without the above preferences.
