Magna Electric Vehicle Structures Production Operator - Off Shift in Saint Clair, Michigan

*PURPOSE OF POSITION: *

Under the direction of the manufacturing engineer, the production operator is to produce quality parts, on time, the first time to meet or exceed our customer requirements, while supporting the Magna Employee's Charter and the policies and procedures of MEVS.

 

*RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY: *

  • Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies.
  • Understand and promote Magna's philosophies and Employee's Charter
  • Establish and maintain communication with other team members and support departments.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures established for each workstation.
  • Maintain integrity of quality to ensure finished product meets or exceeds MEVS standards.
  • Maintain proper documentation of production and inventory using computer system.
  • Follow all plant safety policies and procedures.

     

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS:

  • Must be able to work unsupervised.
  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing processes.
  • Monitor and maintain good housekeeping (maximize downtime opportunities).
  • TLCQQ -- Tagging Correct, Loaded Properly, Closed Properly, Quantity Correct, Quality Parts.
  • Must be a team player willing to work on any job or area in which you are trained or being trained.
  • Perform quality checks as required using QID, QIF, FO/LO Process, and Quality alerts as your guide.
  • Perform the required tasks at the current cycle time on each workstation to help ensure assembly meets our customer demands.
  • Perform tip changes and TPM activities as required for each workstation.
  • Perform other duties as required.

     

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work in a team environment or independently to perform duties with little supervision.
  • Ability to communicate with team members on all shifts and possess good mathematical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and safety requirements.
  • Good communication skills.

     

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Some of the physical demands of this position include sitting for prolonged periods of time, walking up and down staircases, occasional lifting, and occasional stooping and bending. Ability to lift 40 pounds and being able to stand or walk for prolonged periods of time in a manufacturing environment.

 

EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED:

Some of the equipment and tools used are computer, telephone, fax machine, copier/printer, and a projector. Also include basic departmental hand tools and personal protective equipment as well as scanning.

 

KNOWLEDGE:

  • General knowledge of mechanical operations
  • Basic understanding of weld terminology

     

EDUCATION: 

High School Diploma or GED preferred

 

WORK EXPERIENCE:

6-12 months previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred

 

ADDITIONAL SKILLS OR ABILITIES WOULD BE HELPFUL FOR THE JOB:

  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Safe work practices

     

AREAS OF TRAINING REQUIRED:

New Hire Orientation, OSHA Required Training, Product and Process Overview, Understanding the Charter, Lean Manufacturing Overview, 5S & Visual Management, Business Management System, MEVS Label Standards, Tip Change Procedure, Robot Fundamentals, and Basic Workstation Panel views.  Scanner training.
