Amazon Waste Coordinator in Sacramento, California

Description

This is a hands-on position that includes time spent in the yard and on the floor of a busy fulfillment center conducting inspections and audits, providing guidance to other employees, ensuring proper waste classification, and dealing with multiple departments and levels of employees throughout the operation.

Key job responsibilities

  • Function as Lead in Regulated Waste Team which sorts, identifies, designates and packages regulated waste from the production floor in a manner compliant with all applicable federal, state and local regulations. The Regulated Waste Coordinator will also serve as the POC for spills generated within the site.

  • Serve as designated Regulated Waste representative of assigned fulfillment center (FC), coordinating and implementing all areas of the Amazon Regulated Waste Program as directed by Safety Manager of the regional node.

  • Influence behavior and inspire commitment on the part of all personnel in complying with Amazon EHS standards and maintaining a safe work environment.

  • Conduct training and coach associates on observed work habits in support of this effort.

  • Support management’s efforts to ensure compliance with corporate EHS Program expectations and applicable federal and state law. Identify and inform management of compliance issues, safety risks and improvement opportunities through the conduct of daily, weekly and monthly audits.

  • Maintain required paperwork to comply with Amazon standards.

  • Perform Safety Observations & Audits.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent

  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays

  • Can lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach

  • 1+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience

  • Are 18 years of age or older

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience

  • Experience with waste management, especially hazardous or regulated wastes

  • Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) trained

  • DOT Hazardous Materials Training

  • Experience with inventory, bin types, containers, and all tools used to move product throughout the warehouse

  • Understanding of Receiving processes and operations

  • Experience identifying and profiling chemical compositions

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $31,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $54,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
