Your Key Responsibilities
Stantec is seeking a Project Controls Specialist with a solid background in project controls functions. The Project Controls Specialist is a key point of contact for numerous internal and external stakeholders. You will be responsible for all aspects of the position as outlined below.
Experience is required in all aspects of budget and cost controls including budgeting, forecasting, and earned value management.,
Requires a thorough understanding of project accounting methods and requirements.
Solid understanding of principles and methods related to Earned Value Management
Ability to functionally coordinate with both internal and external business processes and to blend the requirements of both.
Superior computer skills in the Microsoft Office Suite (specifically desired: expertise in MS Excel). Experience with MS Project and SQL /Share point Applications is a plus.
Must be detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and time management skills.
Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
Ability to see the "big picture" and use common sense to make decisions.
Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability and desire to build trusting, long-term relationships.
Experienced in working with and providing support to diverse groups in all levels of management.
As a self-starter, under minimal supervision, responsibilities include:
Providing budget, contract and financial management support to Project Managers
Understanding contract terms and assisting Project Managers with maintaining the life cycle of projects per client requirements and company guidelines.
Coordinating with project accounting staff to ensure invoices are submitted per established timelines and contractual requirements.
Auditing project management reports for financial impacts and provisions for gross profit optimization
Assisting Project Managers with monthly forecasts and financial estimates
Supporting Project Managers with project/program enterprise structures, i.e.: Work Breakdown Structures, and Cost Breakdown Structures as part of project budgeting and setup
Performing and managing all budget and cost control functions
Preparing month-end reports, variance reports, and ad hoc reports as required
Performing analytics and interpret project/program data for continuous improvement.
Financial reconciliations as required.
May train, manage, or mentor others.
Administrating the use of Project Management Information Systems in the areas such as budget/cost control, document control, reporting.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Relevant technical college graduate or BS degree or equivalent with 3 years of experience in a project/program controls, project management, or project accounting position; experience working in a consulting or project management environment strongly preferred.

- SF Area $39/CA Other Areas $34 PH - SF Area $56/CA Other Areas $49 PH Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC)
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
