BASIC PURPOSE

The Community Center Gym Attendant/Books before Baskets Tutor position is to provide administrative support to the Community Center Programs, and to assist the Community Center Coordinator. Provide a safe and developmentally appropriate sports and recreation program for youth. This position maintains records and reports for the program and serves as, but is not limited to, an athletic, academic, social coach Tutoring and mentor to children, leading programs or playing alongside, and must demonstrate a true desire to work and play reactional games with youth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work directly with the Community Center Coordinator on essential office duties (i.e phone call, out-going mail, and correspondences, including e-mail and faxes, copying, typing, spreadsheets, mailing, etc.).

  • Ensuring that all children that come in for the tutoring program are signed-in/out.

  • Ensuring that all volunteer packets are filled out and training has been completed.

  • Process child enrollment applications and paperwork for children in the Community Center programs. accept and process program fees using the kiosk and billing families for Community Center programs.

  • Maintain the inventory of all snack bar. Securely maintain all unsold inventory.

  • Manages inventory and prepares requisitions for ordering supplies as needed.

  • Maintain the office area in a clean, organized, and presentable manner.

  • Helps to oversee program-related functions of the Community Center to ensure adherence to The Salvation Army's policies and procedures.

  • Request, issue, and monitor the return of athletic equipment and recreation games: check equipment for proper care and use.

  • Community Center Coordinator in filling coaching and other program positions within the Community Center.

  • Assists with advertising and promoting all Alhambra Campus program activities within the Community Center.

  • Provide tutoring to struggling students in the Basketball program.

  • Monitor student success by report card, parental discussion, and Coach participation.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) require, some collage preferred: and at least (2) years related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experiences.

Skills

  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Must have excellent organizational skills

  • Must demonstrate good judgment and act in a professional manner

  • Must be proficient in standard office computer software programs

  • Ability to speak and write the English language is required

  • Knowledge of sports related rules and regulations, or ability to learn such, is required.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License

  • Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand for up to two (2) hours or more at a time

  • Ability to walk, run, reach, and grasp with arms.

  • Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects

  • Ability to reach overhead

  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color.

  • Ability to operate a computer

  • Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information

  • Ability to operate basic office equipment
