Description

An accounting clerk is responsible for performing various administrative and clerical tasks to support the accounting department. This includes:

  • Preparing basic financial statements, invoices, and accounting reports.

  • Maintaining financial records including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments.

  • Assisting with budget preparation.

  • Processing business transactions and reconciling reports and financial data.

  • Processing invoices, records payments, and track expenses of the organization.

  • Communicating with customers to address any past due invoices.

  • Assisting with audits, fact checks, and resolving discrepancies.

  • Ensuring compliance with federal and state tax regulations.

  • Keeping the accounting department organized by maintaining a filing system of all necessary financial records.

  • Using software systems to process business transactions (like SAP).

    Requirements

Generally, an accounting clerk should have strong numerical skills, attention to detail, and an understanding of accounting principles and procedures. A degree in accounting or related field is often required.
