We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Preschool Teacher to join our talented teaching team in our Saco location. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in creating a nurturing and educational environment for young children. As a Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and implementing an age-appropriate curriculum, fostering positive relationships with children and their families, and ensuring the overall well-being and development of each child in your care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Curriculum and Lesson Planning:
Using RNAs curriculum, plan developmentally appropriate lessons that promote the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of children. Some detailed responsibilities include:
- Develop engaging and interactive lesson plans that cater to the individual needs and interests of the children in the program.
- Balance teacher-centered and student free-choice activities, ensuring every student is involved and interested.
- Knowledge of how to run a circle time meeting, plan engaging learning centers, and use a variety of materials and resources to keep the classroom engaging.
- Provide student assessments and document development through a child portfolio.
2. Classroom Management:
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where children feel safe, respected, and encouraged to explore and learn. Some detailed responsibilities include:
- Establish and maintain an organized and positive learning environment following the RNA Room Set Up and Environment guidelines.
- Build strong relationships with students, encouraging self-discipline and setting high standards for behavior.
- Implement disciplinary procedures based on respect, positive reinforcement, and clear communication.
- Maintain consistency in applying rules and procedures, providing a fair and predictable environment.
- Ensure a high standard of language and promote kindness, friendship, and conflict resolution.
- Keep accurate records and attend to administrative tasks promptly.
3. Communication and Building Connections:
Cultivating positive relationships within our diverse community is crucial. Your ability to communicate effectively, and address feedback with a solution-oriented mindset is essential. You will also be responsible for promoting confidence and goodwill among parents, upholding confidentiality, and maintaining high ethical standards. Some detailed responsibilities include:
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with parents, keeping them informed about their child\'s progress and the center\'s events/activities.
- Maintain a friendly and positive attitude with colleagues and strengthen the bond within our workplace community by celebrating others accomplishments and work in the classroom.
- Responsible for taking the lead in the classroom and providing clear direction to the Teaching Assistants to create a supportive and cohesive environment.
- Ensures all policies and procedures are followed in the classroom and holds others accountable for compliance while in the assigned classroom.
- Provide daily updates with detailed information through Procare.
4. Compliance and Safety:
Ensuring a safe and secure environment is a key responsibility. This includes compliance with childcare regulations, monitoring safety measures, and maintaining records. Your role involves being First Aid/CPR certified, ensuring the classroom is safe, knowing all the state licensing rules, and responding appropriately to emergencies. - Prioritize the safety and well-being of children by implementing and enforcing health and safety po icies and procedures.
- Provide a safe and secure environment for children and ensure student/teacher ratios are maintained at all times.
- Maintain classroom first aid kit and ensure it is properly stocked.
