Labcorp Products Supervisor in RTP, North Carolina

The Products department is responsible for the manufacturing of custom reagents used to perform a variety of laboratory-developed tests, primarily in support of PCR/qPCR. This generally includes reagent batch preparation, packaging of finished products, maintenance of departmental QC records, and other duties as requested by department.

The schedule for this position will be : Monday-Friday between the hours of 9am-5pm.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day to day operations of the Products department

  • Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory personnel of the department

  • Scheduling replenishment of reagents based on priority of lab requests

  • Responsible for ensuring all shifts in the department are properly staffed

  • Monitor use of raw materials

  • Prepare reagent batches following lab SOPs

  • Produce labels with lot numbers, expiration dates, and GHS Hazard Communication

  • Label and fill reagent tubes, tubes, and bottles.

  • Assemble and complete documentation for product lots

  • Prepare orders for shipping or warehouse delivery

  • Use automated and manual lab equipment accurately; including limited maintenance and troubleshooting activities

  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures

  • Recognize problems and initiate troubleshooting steps to evaluate testing failures and other problems

  • Evaluate new process improvements and make appropriate recommendations

  • Meet regularly with direct reports to provide coaching and feedback for their development

  • Responsible for administering and managing policies and procedures

  • Process and maintain payroll and personnel files

  • Perform administrative duties as needed

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in a clinical diagnostics laboratory

Preferred Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience working with reagent manufacturing is highly preferred

  • Experience with product manufacturing for a molecular laboratory and scheduling manufacturing of reagents for a large products laboratory is highly preferred

  • Previous supervisor/leadership experience is highly preferred

  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal

  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position

  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
