Corewell Health Patient Transport Supervisor in Royal Oak, Michigan
Job Summary
Maintains shift accountability through the supervision of workflow for the patient transport department. Responsible for maintaining adequate employee levels to ensure quality services in a cost effective and efficient manner. Mentors and guides employees and provide input regarding staff performance. Assists manager with employee development, education and disciplinary actions on assigned shifts. Collects, monitors, analyzes summarizes data to identify potential process inefficiencies and/or quality assurance issues. Troubleshoots as necessary to meet the volume of runs to provide excellent customer service.
Essential Functions
Supervises the activities of employees engaged in transporting patients and equipment to and from testing and procedure areas including inpatient, outpatient, emergency and high risk intensive care unit (ICU).
Develops employee schedules including updates to meet changing needs on a daily basis. Fills employees vacancies on a shift-by-shift basis and anticipate those needs based on run volumes.
Monitors overtime costs, length of shift (LOS) and daily usage of FTEs and supplies, working within the budget developed by the Director/Manager.
Assists manager with interviewing, hiring, performance evaluations, goals setting, performance improvement and corrective actions. Provides direction and support to subordinate employees to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Facilitates the training and continuing education of employees.
Makes suggestions for process changes and provides input into policies, procedures and departmental objectives.
Transports patients to and from the Department as needed.
Coordinates requests for services, information, records, and data on a timely basis. Researches and resolves problems. Engages in impacting professional, positive and productive physician relationships.
Qualifications
Required
High school graduate or equivalent.
1 year of relevant experience Skills, knowledge, abilities typically gained through 1+ year of related experience
1 year of relevant experience customer service experience, preferably in a hospital or health care setting
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross within the first 90 Days
Preferred
Associate degree
2 years of leadership experience
