Whittier Street Health Center Mobile Van Driver in Roxbury, Massachusetts

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Mobile Van Driver reports directly to the Manager of Facilities. This position operates the Whittier Street Health Center Mobile Van. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for a long period of time. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; bending, placing stools for the patients to access the van. The employee is required to check the oil/gas level on the truck weekly. The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds to move a bench on the truck. It also requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, and telephone. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate forms and reports as needed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Operates the Whittier Street Health Center Mobile Van Provide prompt and courteous service: both on the phone and in person. Demonstrate friendliness and proper phone etiquette with every customer. Maintain a professional appearance and work area consistent with the Handbook. Ensure customers receive prompt, efficient and courteous service. Ensures motor vehicle safely and ensures excellent driving habits for safe working areas exist. Resolve any patient complaints in a friendly, courteous manner. Advise Manager of any incidences or complaints. Immediately report to Manager incidences which may jeopardize the ability to physically or legally operate a motor vehicle including traffic citations, warnings and accidents. Maintains cleanliness of the vehicles including window washing, vacuuming of the interior, removing garbage, etc. Maintains and assures excellent operating condition of all equipment and facilities. Advises supervisor or manager of all breakdowns and maintenance needs immediately. Performs other duties as requested. Required Experience/Abilities/Competencies: Knowledge of basic maintenance Ability to function independently Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills Strong customer service skills Knowledge of the Boston Community Licensure/Education/Training: High school diploma or higher Must have a clean driving record and a valid, current and non-probationary current Massachusetts Driving License Current CPR certification
