Position Summary

The Activities Assistant plans and executes therapeutic recreation activities. This position assists residents to develop, maintain and participate in all appropriate leisure lifestyles. In the absence of the Activities Coordinator, the Activities Assistant will supervise the operations within activities.

Responsibilities of the Position

In the execution of job duties, it is the universal expectation that all tasks are performed with a patient centered focus, while also seeking opportunities to continually improve core processes. Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need, which may include but is not limited to: holidays, night and /or weekend shifts, standby and/or on-call. Minimum Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Required Skills

Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required within 10 days of hire date.

Computer skills: demonstrated ability to use computers (email, spreadsheets, presentations etc.)

Excellent verbal, written and intrapersonal communication skills.

Geriatric Population: ability to work comfortably with the elderly
