Description

The Senior Buyer is responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement process, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in procurement practices, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to build and maintain strong supplier relationships. This role requires collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement Strategy Development:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet organizational goals for quality, cost, and delivery functionality.

  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality (Source: Job Search Landscape 2024).

Supplier Management:

  • Source, evaluate, and establish relationships with vendors and suppliers while ensuring alignment with company values and objectives.

  • Monitor supplier performance through KPIs, benchmarking, and contract reviews.

Contract Negotiation & Execution:

  • Lead negotiation processes to secure advantageous terms.

  • Ensure all contracts are compliant with legal, ethical, and organizational standards.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with finance, operations, and project teams to forecast purchasing needs and budgets.

  • Communicate procurement insights and ensure alignment with project deliverables.

Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Identify potential procurement risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.

  • Ensure compliance with regulations, industry standards, and company policies.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Analyze procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve decision-making.

  • Prepare regular reports on procurement metrics and present findings to leadership.

    Requirements

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 5–7 years of experience in a procurement or strategic sourcing role, with a focus on vendor management.

  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills.

  • Familiarity with procurement software and advanced Excel skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams in a remote environment.

  • Knowledge of relevant market trends and best practices in procurement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications such as CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) or CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management).

  • Experience working in a leadership or mentoring capacity within a procurement team.
