Become a Principal Manager, Environmental Partners and Planners at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this role, you will lead all aspects of the Environmental Partners & Planners Division, reporting into the Director of Environmental Services. Direct and oversee a skilled team consisting of 24, consisting of senior managers, environmental planners, and professional staff, who support early engagement with OU Partners and manage the intake and comprehensive review of projects. This team is responsible for engaging with operational partners to discuss long term strategy and prepare for operational needs. This includes management of a single intake system of OU work activities that require environmental review of all environmental compliance areas. The environmental planning team supports the review of work activities performed by electrical transmission, distribution, substation, generation, telecommunication, and real estate development projects to assess the potential for environmental impacts and provide guidance and operational requirements to minimize and mitigate risk, and/or seek permitting for low complexity/low risk work activities.

  • Provide strategic direction to ensure company-wide environmental adherence of compliance when reviewing and analyzing work activities and issuing requirements for field execution.

  • Manage budget to meet strategic objectives and operational needs.

  • Establish performance expectations and goals aligned with company objectives, policies and procedures.

  • Lead, train and develop staff by providing timely feedback, coaching and support.

  • Demonstrate our company values through decisions and actions.

  • Promote the company’s safety culture to ensure a safe work environment.

  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

The essentials

  • Seven or more years of experience managing a team of direct reports or project management.

  • Experience leading environmental programs or operational projects.

  • Experience working with environmental regulatory agencies and federal land management agencies (e.g. US Forest Service, US National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, US Fish and Wildlife Service, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, etc.).

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in natural or physical sciences, environmental science, or related discipline.

  • Ten or more years' experience managing environmental programs.

  • Ability to achieve results through leading leaders and managing multiple organizations, projects, and initiatives

  • Continuous improvement mindset and collaborative work ethic.

  • Energy Industry experience.

  • Excellent communication skills, teambuilding, mentoring and interpersonal skills.

You should know...

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
