We are hiring a Senior Manufacturing Engineer in Rome, NY to join our Site Manufacturing Engineering Team. This role is rewarding and exciting, both active in the production environment and in the development of new and improved aerospace manufacturing processes. You will have the chance to gain exposure to a variety of manufacturing processes and gain deep expertise in a focus area.

You will be joining over 200 employees responsible for the entire product life cycle, all in one facility. Located in the Mohawk Valley of Upstate New York, Rome is in a growing technology hub with availability to various lifestyles within a 20-minute commute. The international airport in Syracuse, NY is 45 minutes away and we benefit from a relative low-cost of living in New York State.

The role requires significant direct interaction with products and operations and is therefore an onsite role at our facility in Rome, NY.

What You Will Do

  • Coordinates and implements operations sequencing and specification procedures to optimize efficiency and quality. Planning and designing manufacturing processes, layouts, operational execution, and specification requirements to ensure full utilization of manufacturing equipment.

  • Plans, designs, and selects manufacturing processes utilizing materials, specifications, tolerances, equipment, fixtures, tooling, and work instructions.

  • Collaborates with operations and design to support existing product line activities and/or operational process modifications to help enhance products and processes and ensure future business needs are met.

  • Provides technical leadership and helps train lower-level staff to diagnose and solve problems and build capabilities.

  • Determines other technical matters required to make a given product according to the desired volume, timetable, cost, quality level, and other specifications.

  • Designs and develops manufacturing processes for products, taking into consideration problems inherent in the transfer of technology from research to manufacturing. Such design and development may include new or revised processes.

  • Monitors established processes via data collection for statistical analysis and convey technical results to influence others.

  • Monitors and improves quality control procedures to ensure that processes and products meet or exceed customer expectations.

  • Stays abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in aerospace manufacturing, Recommending acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials.

  • Collaborates with suppliers and external partners to select or improve materials, components, and manufacturing processes.

  • Maintains accurate documentation of manufacturing processes, procedures, and specifications, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

  • Drives a culture of continuous improvement, implementing best practices and incorporating feedback to drive ongoing advancements in aerospace manufacturing.

  • Leads and supports projects from conception to completion, coordinating with cross-functional teams to meet project objectives, timelines, and budgetary constraints.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years prior relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Willingness to work in a high-complexity, tight-tolerance, low-volume aerospace production environment.

  • Experience in implementation of process improvements that achieve results and engage front-line teams.

  • Ability to write and communicate technical information and build consensus among individual-contributors and leaders.

  • Demonstrated curiosity and passion in STEAM, specifically science or engineering.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
