Schedule: Mon - Thurs 8am-5 and Friday 8-12

The role you’ll contribute:

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the RN Wound Clinician and supervising physician performs the primary function of an LPN implementing and evaluating the plan of care for patients in the Wound Care (WC) and Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) Therapy Departments. Meets established WC/HBO standards of nursing practice in the management of assigned patients from post admission to discharge. Assists physicians with the implementation of wound treatment plans and participates in performance review activities. In collaboration with the patient and family, provides evidence based professional care and coordinates care delivery with the physician and other members of the healthcare team.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy:

· Operates and supervises maintenance of the hyperbaric chamber and associated systems/equipment

· Conducts pre-treatment and post-treatment evaluation of patients to ensure adequate preparation, including patient screening, evaluation of vital signs, and blood glucose monitoring

· Administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the hyperbaric physician

· Delivers medical care appropriate to the level of his/her medical training duties and procedures as directed by supervisor and medical director, as appropriate to his or her scope of practice

· Always maintains visual observation and/or audible contact with the hyperbaric control panel and patients in hyperbaric chambers

· Monitors patients in the chamber and records patient condition in the EMR

· Assists medical staff, as required, while maintaining the necessary pressure in the chamber

· Ensures patient comfort and reports unusual occurrences to supervising physician and wound center manager

· Records patient treatment notes and enters data in EMR per HIPPA and SOP guidelines

· Documents operating, maintenance and safety logs on hyperbaric equipment

· Responsible for providing support in wound center as needed.

· Responsible for the day-to-day inspection and maintenance of the hyperbaric chambers and related support systems

· Performs all other duties as assigned.

Wound Care

· Provides evidence-based wound care for patients, under the supervision of an RN wound care clinician or provider

· Records patient history into EMR per HIPPA and SOP guidelines

· Escorts patient to examination room, completes vital signs, removes dressings, measures wounds, and takes photos of all wounds per SOP

· Positions patient comfortably for nursing and medical examination,

· Accurately documents patient and wound assessment into EMR as per HIPAA and SOP guidelines

· Update wound treatment plan and orders to home health via EMR

· Assist with patient insurance authorizations for wound care and hyperbaric prospective patients

· Performs all other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Knowledge of patient and fire safety before and during hyperbaric treatments to screen for prohibited items and appropriate attire, in accordance with standard policies and procedures

• Ability to administer hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients, in accordance with standard policies and procedures

• Ability to accurately report and document patient related data

• Ability to transport patients and carry supplies/equipment

• Assist in the insurance authorization process for wound care and hyperbaric patients

• Ability to use personal protective equipment, hand hygiene, and isolation practices appropriately

• Ability to multitask and assist with patient care when not immediately assisting wound care clinicians or providers

• Proficiency in computer systems to enter and track patient records

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and have good comprehension of conversational English

• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

· Completion of a 40 hour Underwater and Hyperbaric Medicine Society (UHMS) or National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric within one year of hire

· Medicine Technology (NBDHMT) approved Hyperbaric Medicine Introductory Course completed within one year of hire

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

· Minimum of 2 years clinical experience, preferably in Wound, Ostomy, and/or Continence.

· One year of technical experience in HBO Therapy

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

· Current State LPN License

· WCC certification within one year

· Certified Hyperbaric Technologist within one year of hire

· Basic Life Support
