Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking a Sr. Principal Engineer Software Quality to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals located in Rolling Meadows, IL .

We are looking for a high-caliber individual with a background in software development, software systems engineering, software quality assurance, and process improvement to join the Quality & Mission Excellence organization. We are a strong advocate of mentoring and professional development programs with growth opportunities often available through rotational assignments.

The candidate selected will:

  • Monitor and improve mission/quality assurance system elements that assure program execution and customer satisfaction.

  • Collaborate with Engineering and PMO organizations in addition to other functions as required

  • Support one or more programs and lead process improvement projects.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The Software Quality Engineer will ensure compliance with all Quality-related contractual requirements, sector/division policies, and procedures while contributing to the program’s effective process implementation.

Tasks:

  • Independently assess and conduct process compliance audits.

  • Ensure the quality of system and software engineering.

  • Review requirements, design, code, test procedures, and test reports.

  • Attend test events to ensure verification and validation activities and results.

  • Review applicable specifications, tools, techniques, and methodologies.

  • Ensure verification of software requirement allocations, traceability, and testability.

  • Participate in customer reviews, risk reviews, and engineering checkpoint reviews.

  • Ensures that project and process control documentation are compliant with requirements, objectives, and/or contracts.

  • Effectively collaborate with Integrated Program Team consisting of various functional representatives

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills and self-motivation

The successful candidate will understand software mission assurance principles, the discipline to enforce them, and will possess strong communication skills and the ability to work closely and effectively with program personnel.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related STEM field.

  • 8 Years of related experience in supporting systems analysis, systems integration, software analysis, software development, software test processes, or program management with a bachelor’s in science OR 6 Years with a Master's OR 4 Years with a PhD

  • Experience collaborating closely with functional teams/Project management.

  • Software development management or project management experience

  • Active DoD TS/SCI clearance required

  • U.S Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in embedded software development.

  • Working understanding of the specific CMMI and AS9100 Standards impacting program performance.

  • Experience in Agile development.

Salary Range: $119,200 - $178,800

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
