Play a pivotal role in shaping the future of geospatial data analysis by leading development of cutting-edge technology. 

As a Senior GIS Analyst at the United States Geological Survey (USGS), you will spearhead advanced GIS projects, guiding a team in converting high-resolution digital elevation model (DEM) and hydrographic data into crucial 3D models to enhance The National Map.  The Senior GIS Analyst will work with USGS to stand up a team and establish the production environment from scratch, while also bridging the gap between applied research and entry-level analysts.  As the team and process become routine, the Senior GIS Analyst will schedule tasks, check quality, report on production, and troubleshoot any issues.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field AND 4+ years of experience

• Demonstrated experience with Ubuntu operating system, including installation on government equipment.

• Proven proficiency in Esri ArcGIS Pro, GlobalMapper, LP360, QGIS, and Python scripting; strong spatial and quantitative GIS analysis skills.

• Confirmed knowledge of PointCloud (LiDAR) data sets, elevation data., hydrographic products, and geospatial data standards.

• Experience serving as a liaison responsible for reporting and quality control.
