Lactation Consultant II – Part Time Days

We are looking for a top skilled nurse to join our Texas Health family. Is that you?

Work location: Texas Health Rockwall - 3150 Horizon Rd, Rockwall, TX 75032 Work hours: Part Time, 24 hours weekly, day schedule

Here’s What You Need:

  • Associate’s degree in Nursing required or

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred

  • 1 year experience as a registered nurse, completion of an RN residency program, or THR residency program required

  • 1 year of Mother/Baby experience strongly preferred; Nursery experience a plus

  • Texas RN - Registered Nurse required upon hire and

  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required upon hire

  • NRP - Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program required within 90 days of hire and

  • IBCLC - Lactation Consultant required within 12 months of hire

  • A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

What You Will Do:

  • Functions as an expert resource on breastfeeding issues for patients, families, community, staff, and physicians. Serves as a clinical expert for lactation issues based on evidence.

  • Produces documentation that initiates, follows and revises patients plan of care.

  • Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes that promote continuity of care.

  • Reviews patient medications for potential complications associated with breastfeeding.

  • Assesses outpatients for symptoms of jaundice and breastfeeding problems.

  • Participates in breast pump rental and retail sales within the Breastfeeding Resource Center.
