University of Maine System Business Advisor, Small Business Development Center - Midcoast Maine in Rockland, Maine

The Maine SBDC (https://usm.maine.edu/maine-small-business-development-centers/) at the University of Southern Maine is seeking a Business Advisor to guide and support entrepreneurs and small business owners in Midcoast Maine. Maine SBDC helps build and strengthen small businesses through no-cost business advising, training, and educational resources.

As a Business Advisor, you will provide high-quality, confidential business advising, and educational workshops that strengthen managerial skills and enhance the long-term sustainability of small businesses in your region. Maine SBDC Business Advisors (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SnmWnllsEyjbi9swo_h-KVFokBoPf_cS/view?usp=drive_link) assist in the creation, growth and success of entrepreneurs and small businesses in their assigned region of Maine. Business Advisors provide high quality, confidential business advising and educational workshops that improve managerial skills and increases the viability and long-term sustainability of clients.

This is a full-time position with an annual salary of $64,000 and will serve Mid Coast Maine with locations in or near the greater Rockland and Wiscasset region.

These positions work on a hybrid schedule with approximately two in-office days per week (subject to change). Additional in-person and travel time may be occasionally required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of five years broad business management experience including small business operations and senior business-related management experience including financial management, personnel development, market research and planning, accounting, and profit and loss accountability.

Preferred:

  • Owned and operated a small business

  • Experience in delivering small business technical assistance.

  • Experience in adult education.

License/Certifications:

  • Ability to provide own transportation (fully-insured vehicle), provide proof of a valid driver’s license, and compliance with Maine law regarding vehicle insurance.
